Gear Up For MLB Playoffs 2009

Steinbrenner to MLB: Umpires Not Doing Enough to Help Yankees

Hank the Tank here.

Can someone please explain to me why Jorge Posada was called out on this play? I understand the game was in Anaheim, but really McClelland? You do realize the New York Yankees are in the ALCS, right? RIGHT?!?!

Let me explain this to you a little more clearly. As the largest, most successful franchise in MLB, as the billion dollar plus “largest ATM on the planet”, and as head of the premiere team that Big Daddy gave me, I expect a lot more “help” from the umps in this ALCS. The level of cooperation from MLB is completely unacceptable.

If that play at 3rd happens again, I want both those guys safe at 3rd.

And then I find this press conference with Tim McClelland whining about the two calls that went against the Yankees. This is not the type of help I had in mind, Tim.

I thought the call against Mauer in the ALDS was oustanding, and that’s what I was hoping to see going into the ALCS. Unfortunately, more often than not, the umpires aren’t calling the Yankees safe when they are tagged off the base. Something called an “out” is being registered every time one of my boys hits a pop up, and one of the Angels guys catches it. Frankly, it feels like the Angels have some momentum all of a sudden.

I don’t care for this type of baseball. Not at all.

To top it all off, I just saw this little video, and apparently MLB has decided to prop up Jim Duquette as the arbiter of all things righteous. Look Jimbo, I can appreciate your enthusiasm, but give me a break. It’s pretty clear that MLB is not interested in helping out its top shelf franchise, and you sir, are clearly not ready for Prime Time.

“Nobody paid his way into a game to watch the umpires”, says ol’ Jim. But I’ve got $10k seats to fill, Jimmy Boy, and I don’t really care how they get filled. And those are just the upper decks.

So, MLB, heading into what I know will be the last game of the ALCS against Anaheim tonight, I expect your full cooperation, and CB Bucknor or Tim McClelland better be behind the plate for my boys, and that strike zone better be the size of a postage stamp in the bottom of the inning.

Hope all is well-

Hank out.
