So I’m neither a Boston or Angel fan but I enjoy a good baseball game, and when the Sox play the Angels you know that is exactly what you’re going to get. Well last nights game didn’t disappoint. I strolled down to the local bar with my friend Brian a die hard Boston fan. Now Brian and I live right in the heart of So Cal, so the bar of course is full of Angels fans. Not to worry though because Angels fans aren’t really baseball fans, they’re jump aboard the bandwagon when the team is doing good fans. So you know you won’t end up in a fight at the end of the night, because let’s face it they’re just not that passionate about their team.
The Red Sox had Lester on the mound and the Angels had Lackey, both really great pitchers so the question was who would last longer. As the Angels came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth I leaned over and told Brian that I thought Lester was looking pretty good, to that his reply was “Just wait, this is when Lester starts to get in trouble”. Sure enough that half of the inning is where the proverbial train fell of the track for the Red Sox. Torii Hunter with two on men on sent Lester’s fastball just about the furthest I’ve seen a ball hit out of Angel Stadium triggering the explosion of fire works as the ball landed against the rock and waterfall facade in left center. At that moment I heard Brian groan as he too knew this one was over.
