Oh! Do you not care? No offense taken, considering the only people that do care are teenage girls who don’t realize other teams exist in Major League Baseball, Kate Hudson, and Jay-Z.
The Yankees are respectable. This is a continuation of a comment I made back on the article "And Suddenly... We're All Phillies Fans"
The Yankees are homegrown. I'm not a New York fan, and I will never be. But the fact is that the Yankees are more than just tons of money spent on free agents. Don't believe me? Take a look at their World Series roster and check out who has come up through the system.
Posada, Duncan, Jeter, Cano, Cabrera, Pettitte, Chamberlain, Wang (not on WS roster, but has had a huge impact over the past several years), Mitre, Rivera, Coke, Hughes, Robertson, Marte, and Aceves. Those are just starters. Include Brett Gardner, who started most of the post season, and Ian Kennedy, and you've got 16 home grown players (doesn't include Wang) that were a part of the WS title the Yankees won this year.
Don't get me wrong. You'd have to pay me off a s*it ton of money to root for the Yanks, but this time around, money wasn't necessarily the reason for success. This doesn't contribute to who roots for them though.
